Countertop Basins
Our countertop basins at Wholesale Domestic are a great way to upgrade your wash station. These sinks sit on top of a vanity unit or worktop with taps mounted behind. The raised edges keep water contained while serving as a stunning focal point and providing counter space for a soap dish and toothbrush holder. Whether you prefer an oval or rectangular countertop basin, we offer a variety of shapes to choose from. We have small models, ideal for corner vanity units in en-suites, while round countertop basins are a favourite for all sizes.

Basin brands you can trust
At Wholesale Domestic, you’ll find countertop basins from some of the best bathroom brands in the UK, including our exclusive in-house designs. Alongside our own brand, explore stylish countertop sink models from Nuie, RAK Ceramics, and Hudson Reed.
Our selection of trusted brands means you're investing in high-quality sinks made from vitreous china or high-grade resin that resists staining and chipping. This ensures your basin isn't just a pretty design, it’s a durable fixture built to withstand daily use.
A wide range of shapes for every bathroom
Our countertop basins are available in a wide range of shapes to suit any bathroom design. Here are some of our most popular options:
- Round – A timeless, circular choice that mimics the look of a traditional washbowl and is available in a variety of sizes.
- Rectangular – Offers a slightly wider washing area and a bolder, structural look that suits modern bathroom spaces.
- Square – A compact, symmetrical option that works perfectly in minimalist bathroom designs.
- Oval – Provides a softer, rounded look that complements curved bathroom furniture and offers slightly more wash space compared to round basins.
- Ellipse – An elongated, irregular oval shape with varying edge heights that adds a modern touch to larger vanities.
How big should a countertop basin be?
The size of your basin should be proportional to your vanity unit. You want enough counter space on either side for essentials like soap dispensers and other toiletries, so make sure the basin doesn't hang over the edges.
Generally, a width of 400mm to 500mm is standard, but you can absolutely go smaller for en-suites and cloakrooms or larger for a grand master suite.

Which vanity units are compatible with countertop sinks?
Thanks to their self-contained design, countertop basins are compatible with a wide range of vanity units. Most freestanding and wall-hung vanity units can work well with a countertop sink, provided they have a solid worktop to carry the basin’s weight without cracking.
If you’re working with a smaller bathroom, cloakroom and corner vanity units are a great way to enjoy the modern look of a countertop basin without taking up too much floor space.
Which taps are compatible with countertop basins?
Because these basins sit above the counter and have raised edges to keep the water in the bowl, standard basin taps are usually too short. You’ll need to pair your sink with high-rise basin mixers that are mounted on the countertop next to the bowl, or opt for wall-mounted taps for a clean, modern look.
